Treated unfairly at work because you're pregnant, or took parental leave?
← Back to Workplace Discrimination Lawyer
Pregnancy and parental leave discrimination is a genuinely common, high-stakes situation, and the timing of what happened often matters as much as what was said. A demotion, a redundancy, or a changed role that lands right around an announcement or a return from leave deserves a proper look.
This might be your situation if
- You were demoted, sidelined, or dismissed shortly after announcing a pregnancy.
- Your role changed, or quietly disappeared, while you were on parental leave.
- You were offered a lesser role on return from leave instead of your old one.
- You were made redundant around the time you announced or returned from leave.
Tell us the timeline, when you announced or took leave, and what happened next, timing is often the key detail here.
Common questions
It's possible in theory, redundancy just needs to be genuine, but timing raises real questions. If your redundancy came shortly after telling your employer you were pregnant or taking leave, it's worth having checked.
Generally you're entitled to return to your old role, or one that's at least as favourable, if your old role no longer exists. Being offered a lesser role, or finding your role has been quietly given away, is worth raising.
